Facilities Manager
St Neots, Cambridgeshire (with travel) | Permanent | £45,000 - £55,000 DOE
Help build the environments where innovation happens
At MASS, our facilities do far more than house our people. They're where engineers, scientists and defence specialists develop technologies that support UK Defence and National Security.
As our Facilities Manager, you'll help shape the workplaces, laboratories and secure environments that enable that work to happen safely, efficiently and sustainably.
This is an opportunity to influence how a growing business develops its estate and not simply maintain what's already there.
Why this opportunity?
As MASS continues to grow, so does the complexity of the environments we operate from.
With investment in secure facilities, specialist laboratories and future workplace expansion, facilities management has become a strategic capability rather than an operational support function.
This newly dedicated role has been created to provide the focus and leadership needed to support that growth.
You'll have genuine ownership of our estate, helping shape workplace strategy, improve facilities, lead projects and ensure our sites continue to support the people delivering nationally important programmes.
If you're looking for a role where you can influence the future rather than simply react to maintenance issues, this is an opportunity to make a lasting impact.
Why MASS?
MASS offers something different.
Unlike large organisations where facilities management can focus on a single location or discipline, you'll have responsibility across a diverse estate that includes offices, specialist laboratories, secure environments and customer-facing facilities.
Working across our sites in Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire and Wiltshire, you'll help create workplaces that enable engineering excellence, customer collaboration and business growth.
You'll work with colleagues across Security, Engineering, IT, HR, Finance, Projects and the Executive Team, giving you the opportunity to influence decisions that shape how the organisation develops.
What you'll make possible
You'll help create environments where people can do their best work by:
- Leading the day-to-day management of MASS's facilities and estate.
- Driving improvements to workplace environments, infrastructure and employee experience.
- Managing contractors, suppliers and facilities service partners.
- Leading refurbishment, maintenance and workplace improvement projects.
- Supporting future estate expansion and facilities planning.
- Ensuring statutory compliance across health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Supporting business continuity, resilience and secure operational environments.
- Working closely with Security and Engineering teams to ensure facilities continue to meet the needs of a growing defence technology business.
Where you'll work
Based at either our head office in St Neots, or our Lincoln office (& Training Academy) you'll work closely with technical, operational and business leaders across the organisation.
You'll also support across our sites, with travel to those and customer locations as required.
Given the nature of the role, you'll spend much of your time working on-site with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders, helping shape environments that support both today's operations and tomorrow's growth.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving environments and making a visible impact across an organisation.
If this opportunity excites you but you don't meet every desirable requirement below, we'd still encourage you to apply.
Essential
You'll bring experience in facilities, estates or property management, together with a strong understanding of statutory compliance and contractor management.
You'll also have experience of:
- Managing facilities services across commercial environments.
- Leading supplier and contractor relationships.
- Managing budgets and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Maintaining safe, compliant and effective workplaces.
It would also be beneficial if you have
- IWFM, IOSH or similar professional qualifications.
- Experience working within Defence or other highly regulated industries.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001 or comparable standards.
- Experience supporting secure or specialist technical environments.
- Experience in electrical engineering best practises such as BS 7671
What you'll take from this role
You'll be joining MASS at an exciting stage in our growth.
As the business continues its journey towards significantly expanding its capability and estate, you'll play a central role in shaping the physical environments that support our people, our customers and our future.
You'll have the opportunity to influence investment decisions, deliver meaningful workplace improvements and leave a lasting mark on a business that's continuing to evolve.
You'll also receive a competitive salary of £45,000 - £55,000 DOE, Private Medical Insurance, two pension schemes, flexible annual leave including December shutdown, professional development opportunities, Share Save scheme, Electric Vehicle and Cycle to Work schemes, retail discounts and a wide range of additional benefits.
Our non-negotiables
Due to the nature of the environments you'll support, you'll need to:
- Be a UK National with the right to work in the UK.
- Be eligible to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance.
