Platform Engineer (Automation + VMware + GitLab)
Location: RAF Leeming, Northallerton (onsite)
Security Clearance: SC required, initially (DV eligibility is advantageous)
Contract Type: Both permanent and contractor options accepted, in the first instance
Salary/Rates:TBC + on-call allowance of ~£5-10k p/a - let's talk about what works for you!

About the Role
MASS is preparing for a forthcoming programme at RAF Leeming and is engaging experienced Platform Engineers in advance. We are looking for professionals with strong operational capability aligned to senior technical standards, able to support and improve platform services in secure environments.
You will join a small, cross-skilled operational support team, helping deliver mission-critical platform services onsite.
What You’ll Be Doing

Supporting and optimising platform services that underpin operational systems

Working with automation, GitLab pipelines, and VMware environments

Contributing to continuous improvement and operational best practice within the team
What You’ll Bring

Experience supporting hybrid infrastructure and platform services

Hands-on experience with automation, scripting, or DevOps-style tooling

Proven ability to operate independently and collaboratively in secure, live environments

Experience within Defence, government, or regulated technical sectors (desirable)
